A guide to responsible data exploration and collaboration on our platform.
Our Mission and Scope
**DataViz Explorer is a Barbadian small business committed to being a truthful, responsible, and supportive environment for exploring and understanding data**.
What DataViz Explorer is for
DataViz Explorer is strictly an online e-learning platform that helps learners, especially beginners, improve their skills in data analysis, practicing responsible data management, and creating visualizations to gain and share genuine insight. We provide access to a variety of resources, including:
- Guides, Minicourses, Newsletters, & Blogs
- Project Access, Articles, & Tips
- eBooks, Podcasts, Audio/Video Podcasts, & Product Updates
- Tools & Templates
Our platform is solely an EdTech hub; there is no physical onsite facility for in-person training. All users need is a reliable internet connection and electronic/mobile devices, which DataViz Explorer does not supply.
By using DataViz Explorer, you agree to follow these guidelines and adhere to our Terms and Conditions.
Community Rules: When using DataViz Explorer, please remember to:
-
1. Be Kind and Respectful
Treat all users and data subjects with dignity. We do not tolerate the use of visualizations or accompanying text to promote hatred, violence, bullying, racism, or discrimination on any basis (e.g., race, religion, gender, etc.).
-
2. Prioritize Data Integrity and Management
Do not upload or create visualizations based on fabricated, misleading, or intentionally incorrect data. Ensure your data sets are well-documented, clean, and accurately reflect the source material. Your visualizations must accurately represent the underlying data to avoid misinterpretation (e.g., responsible axis scaling, appropriate chart types). Always cite the original source of your data when sharing publicly.
-
3. Keep it Analysis-Focused
DataViz Explorer is for data exploration, not social networking or personal blogging. Content that is non-analytical or serves as spam will be removed.
-
4. Respect Intellectual Property
You may not post data, datasets, or images that infringe anyone else’s copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights. Ensure you have the right to share the content you upload.
-
5. Protect Confidentiality and Privacy
Do not post personally identifiable information (PII)โyours or anyone else’sโ(such as name, address, telephone number, account information, business or financial information) into any public-facing data sets or visualizations. Anonymize or aggregate sensitive data appropriately.
How to Report Inappropriate Content
We depend on our users to help keep DataViz Explorer a high-quality, trustworthy environment. If you find content or activity that violates the guidelines above, please follow these steps:
- Locate the Violating Content: Identify the specific visualization, data set, comment, or user account.
- Submit a Report: Send an email to [email protected] with the following information:
